Decathlon program focuses on ZNE buildings

DecathalonCollege teams from around the world are preparing for the upcoming Solar Decathlon in Denver, Colorado, this October. This year’s projects will feature zero net energy dwellings—completely powered by solar generation resources–that are designed and constructed by 13 interdisciplinary college teams from the U.S. and internationally.

smart energy production with innovation, market potential, and energy and water efficiency, according to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). The Solar Decathlon is an educational competition sponsored by DOE and first held in 2002, occurring biennially since 2005.  This year’s teams include two groups hailing from California universities: UC Davis and UC Berkeley, which is teaming with the University of Denver.
