California ZNE buildings count tops 150 and sees an increase in the number of public projects

Public buildings are dominating the ZNE Buildings Watchlist with increasing local, state, and federal projects pursing zero net energy performance, according toca-zne_watchlist_fall-winter_2016_final_4_page_1 the new Winter 2016 report edition. New Buildings Institute (NBI) produces this semiannual report for the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) which documents verified and emerging ZNE buildings and includes trends in California locations, building types and sizes.

The list grew substantially since the summer edition, largely due to identification of new emerging projects, and now totals 159 verified (20) and emerging (139) buildings. In all, 87 of those are government-owned projects, including 56 local government buildings, 22 State, and six federally owned buildings.
